In May of 2016, the City of Modesto Streets Division implemented a slurry seal preventative maintenance program. Our goal was to complete 40 lane miles in our first season. After a successful season, we exceeded our goal by completing 76.8 lane miles of residential street slurry seal. This preservation program which adds to the lifespan of our residential streets has been received in a positive manner by the citizens. Not only does the slurry add a new wear surface, it protects the base by preventing water penetration, and it also gives a new aesthetic value to the street that has been very pleasing to the citizens of Modesto. We provided our citizens a value product at a final cost of $1.08 per square yard.
