Project Description
City of Burbank’s Phase VII of Local/Residential Street Improvement project repaved qualified streets in two neighborhoods in the City. The project resurfaced a total of 110 City blocks (32 lane miles) using 17,000 tons of rubberized asphalt (ARHM), which uses crumb rubber from recycled tires – a total of 340,000 discarded tires were recycled for this project. The project also reconstructed and improved 170 pedestrian curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines, reconstructed over 23,000 square feet of damaged sidewalk, driveway and alley approaches, and reconstructed over 3,500 linear feet of curbs and gutters. In addition to installation of pavement striping and markings, all crosswalk markings that were removed during construction were replaced with new higher visibility crosswalks for improved pedestrian safety.
